Finding child care in Toronto can feel overwhelming, especially if you are expecting or have a very young child. At Childspace Day Care, we use a clear, fair wait-list system so you understand how to join, what to expect, and when you might hear from us.​

Step 1: Add Your Child to the Wait-List

To join the wait-list, please contact each centre you are interested in directly by phone or email. When you reach out, share: parents’ names, best phone number and/or email, your preferred start month (and the earliest month you would consider), your child’s name, and date of birth (or expected month and year if your baby is not born yet).​

Each age group at each centre has its own wait-list (infant, toddler, preschool), and the day you call, leave a message, or email becomes your seniority date. There is no minimum time you must be on the list before being offered a space.​

Step 2: Updating Your Information

Life changes, and your plans might too. You can contact us any time to update your contact details, adjust your preferred start month, or move from one age group list to another (for example, from infant to toddler). Updating your file does not affect your seniority date or your place on the list.​

You will stay on the centre’s wait-list until you ask us to remove your name.​

Step 3: When Spaces Become Available

Spaces open when a child or family leaves a centre, and this can happen at any point in the year or month. We are usually able to contact families 4–6 weeks before a space becomes available because families give one month’s notice when withdrawing.​

When a space opens in a specific age group, the Supervisor calls or emails all families on that wait-list who are eligible for that room and start month. Families who respond within the given time frame keep their place in line, and the space is first offered to the family with the earliest seniority date.​

Step 4: Accepting a Space

If your child is offered a space, we will explain which age group they will join and the likely timing of a move to the next age group. For example, if a child starts in the infant room at 17 months, we will give you a sense of when a toddler spot may open.​

To confirm your space, you provide a one‑week deposit of your child’s fee for that age group, which is applied to your child’s last month of care when proper notice is given. There is also a $15 registration fee for all children accepted into Childspace.​

If you decide not to take a space when called, your seniority on the wait-list stays the same, and if another family fills the space, we will let you know.​
