How to Join the Wait-List

To add your child to our wait-list, please contact each centre you are interested in directly by phone or email.​
You can find all contact information on our Centres page.

When you contact a centre, please provide:

  • Parents’ first and last names
  • Best contact phone number(s) and/or email address(es)
  • Your preferred start month (and the earliest month you would consider)
  • Your child’s name
  • Your child’s date of birth
    • Unborn children can be added with the expected month and year of birth

The day you call, leave a message, or send an email becomes your seniority date on the wait-list.​

How Our Wait-List Is Organized

  • Each age group at each centre has its own wait-list (for example: infant, toddler, preschool).​
  • There is no minimum time you must be on the list before being offered a space.
  • You will remain on the centre’s list until you ask us to remove your name.

Please be strategic about your preferred start month.
For example, if you really need care for May but would consider starting in March, let us know both months.

You may call or email at any time to:

  • Update your contact information
  • Change details such as your preferred start month or age group (for example, moving from the infant list to the toddler list)

There is no penalty for updating your information, and your seniority date stays the same.

When Spaces Become Available

  • Spaces open when a child or family leaves the centre.
  • Openings can happen at any time of the year and at any point in the month.
  • There is often more movement in July, August, and September, but spaces may become available in any month.

Families are typically contacted 4–6 weeks before a space becomes available, because parents are required to give one month’s notice when withdrawing.
Once a withdrawal is confirmed in writing, we begin calling families on the wait-list for that age group.​

How We Offer Spaces

When a space is available in a particular age group:

  1. The centre Supervisor contacts all families on the wait-list who are eligible for that room and start month.​
  2. Even if your preferred month has already passed, if your child is still within the age range for that room, you may still be offered a space.
  3. Families are given a specific time frame to return our call or email and confirm that they are still interested.
  4. From the families who respond within that time, the family with the earliest seniority date is offered the space first.

If your child is offered a space, we will explain:

  • Which age group they are entering
  • The likelihood and approximate timing of moving to the next age group
    • For example, a child starting in the infant room at 17 months may or may not move to the toddler room right at 18 months, but we will give you a sense of when a move is likely.

If you are contacted about a space and decide not to take it at that time, your place on the wait-list stays the same.​

If you have expressed interest in a space but another family ultimately accepts it, we will contact you to let you know the space has been filled.

Deposits and Fees When You Accept a Space

When you officially accept a space:

  • one‑week deposit of your child’s fee (for that age group) is required.
  • This deposit is applied to your child’s last month of care, provided that the required notice of withdrawal is given.
  • All children accepted into Childspace are required to pay a $15 registration fee.
